Glossit: Cleansing Oil - Sensitive Skin
Glossit: Cleansing Oil - Sensitive Skin
Did we just see you raise a brow? Oil + Cleanser, that’s like, an oxymoron, right? Actually, no!
We’ve been taught to avoid the word oil or the use of it regarding cleansing our entire lives. We’re here to tell you that this belief is a big mistake. Oil & water are not besties! We’ve known that our entire lives too. You’ve seen it in parking lots after rain fall, boats leaking oil into the lake, jumping in the pool with tanning oil on. Oil just sits on top of that water, never being dissolved. Like attracts like which is good when you’re talking about facial cleansing.
Our premium organic oil cleansers were created with all of that and more in mind. Each oil that is placed into every bottle of Glossit is specifically known to produce an unclogging effect, dissolving all the excess sebum, makeup and oils that have settled into your pores. When properly applied to the neck and face, these oils start to dissolve these and other impurities from your pores. Once cleansed & then rinsed all you see is deliciously dewy, super-hydrated skin. All you feel is soft and clean.

Heat a clean rag in semi-hot water. You want to make sure to use hot water but be careful to not burn yourself. Just enough heat to open the pores. Wring out your rag & place it on face, pressing firmly, for about 30 seconds. This will help open your pores which will help the oil get in deep and dissolve oil & dirt. Pump 1 - 2 pumps of oil into the palm of your hand, briefly rub together with your opposing hand & press the oil gently into the surface of your skin. Add additonal pump of oil if cleansing neck. Start to gently massage the oils into your skin in an upward/outward & circular motion. Let the oil absorb into your skin for another 30 seconds. Heat your clean rag under hot water again under semi-hot water. Wring the water out once more & in the same gentle, upward motion, remove the oils from your skin. Rinse your rag once more & sweep the rag over the face once more to remove any residual oils. Follow up with a good toner.
Organic Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Sunflower Seed Oil, Organic Castor Oil, Non-GMO Aloe Vera Gel, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, Organic Carrot Seed Oil, Organic Roman Chamomile EO, Organic Lavender EO, Organic Rosemary Antioxidant CO2 Extract.
Sweet Almond Oil - Prunus dulcis – Though this oil is fairly thick, sweet almond oil is hypoallergenic which makes it great for the sensitive types. Sweet almond contains fatty acids as well as Vitamins A & E and is a known antipruritic which means it settles any itching associated with sensitive skin types.
Sunflower Seed Oil - Helianthus annuus – A deeply nourishing conditioning oil for the skin rich in vitamins and fatty acids which act as antioxidants which will ease inflammatory conditions while helping regenerate new skin cell growth.
Castor Oil – This dirt dissolving buster cleanses the pores and removes makeup…ALL OF IT! However, there are rules to using this oil. Moderation (yep, just like everything else). Castor oil can be drying so each oil blend is different and how much of this oil is used in each formula varies depending on type of skin. Another factor here is specific combination per skin type. All of the ingredients used in our oil cleansers will prove to be the best combination with your skin type in mind.
Aloe Vera – Aloe vera can treat and prevent minor infections of the skin. It also promotes new skin cell growth, minimizes scarring, reduces fine lines and wrinkles and is very hydrating. It also helps remove dirt & makeup without having to tug at the skin to do get the job done.
Jojoba Oil - Simmondsia chinensis – Jojoba oil is actually not an oil, it is a wax. But this wax is not the type of wax you imagine when you hear the word. This oil is temperature sensitive and is only waxy when it hits temperatures below 19.5 degrees Fahrenheit. This oil is non-clogging and has the same absorption properties that are similar to our skin’s own sebum. Its use can adjust the skin’s sebum production by balancing like with like making it very compatible with skin.
Rosehip Seed Oil - Rosa Rubiginosa – Rosehip Seed Oil is known as a “dry” oil which means that it absorbs rapidly into the layers of the skin. It is not recommended for acne prone or very oily skin but is a very good candidate for sensitive skin types as it does not tend to “freak” skin out, as well as dry & aging skin. In fact, rosehip seed oil is great for repairing damaged skin due to environmental pollutants and stressors.
Carrot Seed Oil – We love our carrots! Any why wouldn’t we? Its antiseptic, anti-wrinkle, anti-oxidant & antipruritic qualities are just the tip of the burg. Carrot seed oil repairs damage to skin that has been exposed to pollution and environmental stress. Not only does it hydrate the skin, it also helps even out skin moisture throughout - resulting in a soft, even skin tone.
Chamomile (Roman) EO – Anthemis nobilis - Fresh & fruity…just the way we like it! Chamomile has been used in many applications over many lifetimes. It was one of the nine sacred herbs of the Saxons, who wrote about this (and eight other herbs) around the 10th century. Google it, it’s a pretty fascinating piece of herbal history. Its gentle and caressing action is soothing and relaxing, from inside of the body and out.
Lavender EO - Lavandula angustifolia – The synergistic blending of chamomile with lavender is the perfect idea of a harmonious marriage. Both are gentle, soothing and sweet and both are known as healing agents.
Rosemary Antioxidant CO2 Extract - An all-natural preservative created from the extract of whole fresh rosemary leaf through the CO2 extraction process which helps maintain the integrity of the base constituents of the oil itself & the end-product by stabilizing its shelf life.
